As I sit here wondering what lies ahead of me, I have finally come to a realization of how lucky I am.
I have always been in search of something more:
More friends
More fun
More memories
More things
I have always looked for greener pastures, thinking I was missing out on something. There must be more to life...
Friends have always been a prize. Work hard and you will bond.
Keep going. Fill your life with fun. If you don't stop, your life will have more purpose.
Memories are made with pictures.
Having "things" means having security.
Now I realize from the depth of my soul that my greener pasture is right here, right now, this very moment.
I think I finally understand the meaning of the old proverb from the Bible, "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold."
I have many friends. But friends are not a prize, only a gift. A gift that is to be cherished. Working hard is part of any relationship, but who am I really working for? Am I working to build a deep and lasting relationship with them? Or am I simply working to satisfy my own selfish needs?
What security can there truly be in just the temporal?
I think I fully understand now that every breath I take IS life.
I am very lucky indeed.
Above all else, I have dear friends with whom I have shared many precious moments. I have a history with these friends that I will treasure for the rest of my life. I am building memories that I will hold close in my heart forever.
Yes indeed I am a very lucky woman, for even if I have but one close friend with whom I can share my deepest thoughts and emotions...I am very blessed indeed!
